Marlo D. Robinson

Biography

Dr. Marlo Robinson has over three decades of experience as a nurse educator, higher education executive leader, and legal expert with a firm dedication to positively impact environments, people and policies. Dr. Robinson’s passion lies in birthing new opportunities and nurturing them to their fullest potential. She currently serves as the Dean and VP of Purdue University Global’s School of Nursing. She previously served as the Executive Dean of Nursing at Concorde Colleges and co-chair of the organization’s culture and engagement steering committee. In her role as educator, Marlo develops and implements unique and individualized strategies to assist students and graduates in meeting their goals by overcoming life and academic circumstances. Marlo’s professional accomplishments include serving as the National League for Nursing’s appointed consultant to the National Student Nurses’ Association where she supports their Board of Directors, students and faculty nation-wide. She is an active member of the International Society for Professional Identity in Nursing and has mentored soon-to-be graduates through a partnership between the National League for Nursing and Johnson & Johnson titled “Step Into Leadership”. Additionally, she has served as a curriculum reviewer and academic mentor for Sigma Theta Tau’s Leadership Academy. Dr. Robinson is a co-author of a peer reviewed article examining the intersectionality of DEIB and professional identity in nursing formation: Clark, C. M., Davis, S., Kuhl, L., Priddy, K. D., & Robinson, M. D. (2024). Conceptualizing the influence of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging on professional identity in nursing. The Journal of Continuing Education in Nursing, 1–7. Marlo’s professional training began at the University of Miami (Florida) where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She then earned her Juris Doctorate degree at Nova Southeastern University following which Marlo practiced commercial real estate, transaction and corporate law in a national law firm. Thereafter, she served as in-house counsel to the Sports Authority. Dr. Robinson later earned her Master of Science in Nursing at Kaplan University and earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice at Purdue University Global. Dr. Robinson is the founder of Mother’s Care Doula Services, Inc. where she currently serves as CEO. Mother’s Care was founded in 1998, having successfully served more than 4,5oo pregnant and postpartum families in the South Florida birthing community. She remains licensed to practice law and is an active member of the Florida Bar. Marlo provides legal insight for nurse-related matters through her membership in The American Association of Nurse Attorneys and has spoken at numerous national conferences on topics including: “The Power and Importance of Nurse Leaders and their Impact on Inclusion”, “the Science of Learning”, “Teaching and Living in a Growth Mindset” and “Act Like a Nurse/ Think Like a Lawyer”.
