Engagement & Recognition

2. Experience-Led Nursing Workshops

At FLORENCE 2026, we believe that nursing knowledge is deeply rooted in experience, practice, reflection, and shared learning. Beyond formal presentations, we invite nurses, educators, researchers, and practitioners to lead interactive, experience-driven workshops that reflect their expertise, interests, and real-world practice.

This is your opportunity to bring forward what you believe matters most in nursing today.

Propose Your Own Workshop

We warmly welcome workshop proposals on any topic of your choice related to nursing practice, education, leadership, research, innovation, or professional development.

There are no predefined themes or restrictions. If you have an idea you are passionate about, we want to hear it.

Whether your approach is discussion-based, hands-on, reflective, or interactive, the format is entirely up to you.

Foundations of Qualitative Research Methodologies

in Health and Social Sciences
90 Minutes Workshop
Theme

This workshop provides a structured and accessible introduction to the philosophical foundations, methodological principles, and practical applications of qualitative research in the health and social sciences. It is designed to support researchers who seek a deeper understanding of qualitative inquiry and its role in exploring complex health and social phenomena.

Qualitative methodologies are essential for investigating lived experiences, perceptions, meanings, and social interactions that cannot be adequately captured through quantitative approaches alone. Despite their importance, many researchers in biomedical and health sciences lack formal training in the theoretical foundations and methodological rigor required to design and conduct high-quality qualitative studies.

The workshop will guide participants through key elements of qualitative research design, including the definition and scope of qualitative inquiry, its philosophical underpinnings, and the comparison between qualitative and quantitative research paradigms. Particular attention will be given to clarifying the fundamental principles of qualitative methodologies and their application in rigorous health research.

Case Study Examples
  • The experiences and perceptions of stroke patients regarding engagement in the research process: A nested open coding approach within directed qualitative content analysis
  • The experiences and perceptions of stroke family caregivers regarding engagement in the research process: A nested open coding approach within directed qualitative content analysis

These case studies will demonstrate how qualitative methodologies can be applied in biomedical research to generate meaningful insights that inform patient-centered and stakeholder-engaged research practices.
