Barbra Bachmeier

Biography

Barbra Bachmeier is a nurse practitioner and advanced practice forensic nurse at IU Health – Methodist Hospital and a solo attorney in Indianapolis. She has a consultant business focusing on interpersonal violence and nursing practice issues for both civil and criminal attorneys . Barb’s nursing career began in 1982 as a licensed practical nurse and has worked in many areas including medical-surgical units, trauma/critical care, and emergency nursing as a registered nurse, and as an advanced practice provider in emergency medicine and as a forensic nurse. Barbra completed a clinical medical ethics fellowship in 2013 at Charles W. Fairbanks Center for Medical Ethics at Indiana University Health. In May 2024, Barb completed her master’s in public health, with a concentration in social and behavioral sciences through the Richard M. Fairbanks school of Public Health from Indiana University - Indianapolis. In 2015, she received the National ENA Nursing Practice and Professionalism Award and was selected as a Fellow in the Academy of Emergency Nursing in 2018. Barbra retired from the US Army National Guard with 29 years of service.
